Preston trains in the rain

United Kingdom - 2011

Preston station is a busy junction on the West Coast main line with Virgin Anglo-Scottish services in the hands of Pendolinos and Voyagers. The majority of routes are in the hands a wide variety of ageing DMUs operated by Northern Rail. The remaining operator is Trans Pennine Express with routes from Manchester radiating to Blackpool, Barrow, Windermere and across the border to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Finally there is some freight traffic. The train shed at Preston still retains some character and provides an interesting background for photography and train watching.
